Disability Access Statement

Lynton & Lynmouth are both built on steep hillsides which is reflected in the gradient in many areas of the villages. The Hotel is situated over 3 floors, plus the car parking which is at a lower level.
The guest accommodation is a Grade II listed building, built in 1815. Due to the nature of it's construction, we regret the premises are not suitable for persons requiring the permanent use of a wheelchair.

Parking
There is parking for all our guests and at the end of the car park where it widens, we have some extra large spaces that measure 5.8m long x 2.8m wide. Passengers can be dropped next to entrances if required.

Entrances
Different apartments have different entry points. For most, the car park is at a lower level than the respective apartment entrance. Baywatch, C S Lewis, Seaview Terrace & Bayview Tower

From the car park, there are:

6 steps each 180mm high to the half landing
3 steps each 180mm high to half landing
3 steps each 180mm high (with handrail) to Terrace outside Reception door
1 step into reception hall each 200mm high

First Floor to Baywatch & C S Lewis

From Reception, there are 4 steps, carpeted, 200mm high, with handrail to half landing
7 steps each 200mm high, carpeted, with handrail to half landing (Baywatch entrance)
5 steps each 200mm high, carpeted with handrail to half landing (C S Lewis entrance)

Baronets Quarters with private terrace
This semi-detached villa is accessed via the private terrace. Leading to the terrace from the end of the car park is a ramp.
The ramp is not DDA compliant due to listed building restrictions but is provided with a sturdy handrail.
There is one step up from the Terrace into the apartment which is 230mm high.

Bayview Terrace is accessed via its private terrace outside.
There is a private front door with two steps up to the door of 100mm and 140mm leading into the kitchen diner.
Then there are three steps down into the bedroom are each 165mm - 185mm high with a handrail.
Ground floor wet room - The bathroom is at the same level as the lounge.
It is a “wet room” measuring3.7m x 1.73m
There is no bathtub
The shower is a walk in, “wet area”, there is no floor sill. The shower space measures 1000mm wide x 1730mm long.
The doorway has a clearance of 795mm
There are no handrails, but rubber suction handholds are available if requested.
From the kitchen level, a flight of 15 carpeted stairs each 210mm high with a handrail lead up to the master bedroom. There is a twist starting at step no.7 .

Penthouse Lynmouth Bay, Penthouse Channel View & Blue Bay
These three apartments are currently accessed via the West Wing entrance.
This is via a path with a slight gradient, leading through the main entrance door, into the West Wing lobby.
Directly in front is a two-person lift which gives access up to the second floor, which is the entry level for both penthouses. Within each penthouse, there is then an additional set of stairs, up to the penthouse level.

Penthouse Lynmouth Bay - from entry level;
5 steps at 220mm High lead to half landing 890mm W x 840mm Wide
8 more steps lead up to the Lounge floor

Penthouse Channel View - from the second floor (entry level).
2 steps up to the front door, of 170mm and 220mm High each.
Inside the Apartment, 6 steps of 220mm High lead to the half landing. 840mm x 840mm Wide. Then 7 more steps of 220mm High lead up to the Lounge floor.

Blue Bay is currently all on one level, on the first floor, and can be accessed by lift or stairs. If not using the lift; 14 twisting steps of 220mm High lead up to the first floor, which is entry level.
